Along with maintenance and inspections, maintaining proper security procedures needs to be a top priority for pilots and operators. While airport security has significantly improved in the last several decades in the face of global terrorism, smaller airports can still be lacking in some regards. At some smaller regional and international airports, people can simply walk onto the premises and start accessing aircraft.

On November 29th 2016, Bill Carey wrote an article for AIN Online talking about how Lockheed Martin was awarded a contract that will upgrade South Korea’s F-16s. This contract as a price tag of over $1 billion foreign military sale (or FMS). This contract will be to upgrade 134 of the F-16s to a “V” configuration. Lockheed Martin plans to complete the upgrade by the year 2025 which the contract was originally awarded to BAE Systems.

Billed as a collaborative effort between researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and Sikorsky aircraft, the new UH-60 Black Hawk is a self-flying helicopter that will eventually be used during air-ground missions in hazardous environments.  The UH-60 is able fly autonomously due to a series of advanced hardware and software applications known as the Sikorsky Matrix System.
