Tank Fuel Parts - Request a Quote

The aircraft fuel tank is an indispensable part of the aircraft, providing housing for airplane fuel and containing systems that allow fuel to be transported for engine use. When choosing which fuel tank is best for you, you should consider the different types and locations of tanks. In general, there are two types of tanks for aviation fuel: Internal or External. Internal tanks include rigid removable, integral, bladder, and tip tanks. External tanks, on the other hand, include conformal and drop tanks.

The rigid removable tank is a very common type for smaller aircraft, constructed from aluminum alloy or stainless steel and has a welded enclosure. These tanks are placed within the airframe of the aircraft and are typically strapped in to prevent movement. As these tanks are removable, maintenance, repair, and replacement proves to be easy. Integral tanks are also very common, often featured on high-powered and transport aircraft. These tanks are located within the free space of aircraft wings and are baffled so as to prevent tank fuel sloshing during maneuvering. Drop tanks are external tanks that can be mounted to the exterior of the aircraft, sometimes allowing the ability to be jettisoned in events of emergency or in military applications.
